PCA is extremely pleased to announce that the American Institute of Architects has elevated David Chilinski, FAIA to its College of Fellows, a distinguished group of individuals recognized for their contributions to the field. Fellowship is one of the highest honors the AIA can bestow upon a member, recognizing not only David’s achievement as an individual but also his significant contributions to architecture and to society.

As president and co-founder of Prellwitz Chilinski Associates along with Wendy Prellwitz, AIA, David has been leading the firm for over 35 years to evolve mixed-use, retail marketplace, and village concepts. With infectious entrepreneurial spirit, David spearheads projects with high levels of community engagement, and shepherds them through complex approvals processes. His stewardship in community service stems from his deep commitment to inclusiveness and cooperation in building communities. Through progressive policies, mentorship, and volunteerism in civic activities, David nurtures a distinctive collaborative culture within his firm that embodies core values of caring and respect, aligned with the fulfillment of sharing creative ideas and actively pulling in the same direction.
David’s practice is recognized for his uncommon blend of inventive problem solving and business pragmatism that forges connections with clients and communities. David Manfredi of Elkus Manfredi echoed this in his sponsorship of David’s fellowship:

“David Chilinski has dedicated his career and his firm to the planning and design of the places of everyday life — where we live and work, play and learn, and most importantly, places that make community. Shaping the projects and processes that bring people together, David’s leadership shows us how to build places of connection that transform the everyday into a celebration of the experience of architecture.”

David’s unconventional and non-linear thinking defies traditional boundaries of practice. He blurs distinctions between architecture, urban planning, and interiors, and uses asset management, strategy, storytelling, and branding to redefine the feeling and function of public realm in a wide range of typologies. He focuses not just on buildings but as important, on the spaces created between buildings to achieve memorable places for social gathering.
We are incredibly proud to honor David’s great achievement!
