We knew that PCA was the right fit for this unique project. Their involvement with the community process and their creative design solutions have been integral to saving this endangered landmark for the town of North Easton.

At Ames Shovel Works, we unlocked this historic site’s potential, blending the architecture of these beautiful granite buildings back into the town fabric. Preserving virtually all of the historically significant structures, new additions, such as dormers and skylights, help to transform these industrial manufacturing buildings into 113 contemporary, mixed-income residences with 1.5 acres of accessible open space.
Ames Shovel Works enlivens Easton, MA, not only through the preservation of a historic landmark, but also the introduction of a waste water treatment plant which gave increased capacity to the town. Since opening, Easton has seen an uptick in activity on their main street, such as now thriving restaurants. Working collaboratively with the community and developer, our vision enables the project to preserve this national landmark while creating a contemporary new residential neighborhood for the town of Easton.
