The corner of Dorchester St. and Old Colony Ave. is being transformed into a vibrant section of Andrew Square. Washington Village will bring all good things for those who wait. And boy, have we waited.
Linda Zablocki, President, Andrew Square Civic Association
The five-acre site outside of Andrew Square consisted of underutilized warehouse and industrial space abutting a vibrant residential neighborhood. Incorporating feedback from meetings with the Andrew Square Civic Association and abutters, the redevelopment will create 656 apartments and condos for middle income renters and first time home buyers.
Adding to the bustling 98,600 SF of ground floor retail space, the project will also include an anchor grocery store, cafes, restaurants and locally-owned retail shops. Much needed parking for 648 cars on site and a 1.5 acre public plaza and green interconnected with almost a mile of new sidewalks and 130 new trees – create a new gathering space for residents and visitors to Andrew Square in South Boston.
The first built residential experience is South Standard – a contemporary multiunit living experience for those interested in access to diverse culture and entertainment, walkability, convenient public transportation and a vibrant social scene, see website profile.
